Our Story
Abhinav walked into Fennel, his favorite neighborhood restaurant. As he glanced around, something unusual caught his attention once again, something he had noticed several times in his visits there—a small pile of leftover chutney on nearly every table. It was the same vibrant green sauce, scraped off plates and discarded, meal after meal. Intrigued, Abhinav asked the restaurant staff about it. They admitted that while customers loved the chutney, the portions were too generous, leading to significant waste.

That evening, back at home, Abhinav began noticing a similar pattern. His family, like many others, often overestimated how much food to prepare. Extra rotis piled up on the kitchen counter, destined for the next day’s breakfast or simply forgotten until they grew stale. His mother once lamented how frequent shortages of flour made it hard to keep up with their favorite recipes. Abhinav realized these were two sides of the same coin: food was wasted when overproduced and lacked when supplies dwindled—both symptoms of inefficient planning.
The tipping point came at his younger brother’s school fair. One booth showcased upcycling—turning waste into something useful. From banana peels converted into fertilizer to leftover bread transformed into pudding, the possibilities were endless. Abhinav’s mind raced. What if this principle could be applied on a larger scale to address food waste?

That night, the idea struck him. What if an app could analyze patterns in food consumption and wastage, helping individuals and businesses reduce waste at the source? It could track leftovers, suggest adjustments to portion sizes, and even recommend creative ways to upcycle surplus food. Combining his passion for programming and his growing awareness of sustainability, Abhinav began sketching out a plan.

The result was Save a Bite, a groundbreaking app that uses AI to analyze waste data. By providing actionable insights, like how to reduce chutney portions at restaurants or adjust roti quantities at home, the app empowers users to make smarter decisions. It also features upcycling ideas, turning potential waste into delicious opportunities. For businesses, schools, and households alike, Save a Bite offers a tailored approach to combat food waste and create a more sustainable future.

Abhinav’s journey from noticing patterns of waste to creating a solution exemplifies how small observations can lead to big change. What started with a few scraps of chutney has now become a tool helping countless others rethink food consumption—one bite at a time.
